Is there WLAN?

WLAN is available free of charge in all rooms. The network name is “zollfrei” and no password is needed. The network works very well.

Where can I find the guesthouse?

The main entrance is located at Zollstrasse 121, 8005 Zurich. The entrance brings you to the Forum – the lobby of the building. The reception desk is located on the 1st floor, where we are happy to assist you during opening hours. The guesthouse rooms are on the 2nd floor.

How do I arrive by public transport?

The Kalkbreite Cooperative Zollhaus is a car-free settlement, and we are happy if our guests arrive via public transportation. The bus stop “Röntgenstrasse” is directly in front of the building, take bus-line 32. Zurich main train station is an eight-minute walk away and the tram stop “Zurich, Limmatplatz” is a five-minute walk away. Go to Zollstrasse 121 and follow the descriptions under “Where can I find the Guesthouse?”.

Is it possible to arrive by car and where can I park?

The Zollhaus is a car-free settlement, and we kindly ask you to arrive by public transport whenever possible. We are very centrally located. There are a few parking spaces available that can be booked in advance by mail. You will receive more information with your booking.

When can I check in?

Your room will be ready for you from 16:00 on the day of arrival.
24 hours prior to your arrival, we will ask you by email, to fill out your registration form online. On the day of arrival from 9:00 on, you can then request online your room number and access code.

The 4-digit access code is valid for your room, as well as the Guesthouse entrance and the main entrance on the ground floor (if closed).

The reception is open from Monday to Friday from 15:00 – 19:00, closed on the weekends.

 

How does the access to my room work?

Your 4-digit code gives you access to your room during your stay at Guesthouse Zollhaus. You can request your access code online on the day of arrival from 9:00 on (we will send you and email the day before).

Your personal access code is valid for your room and the Guesthouse entrance on the 2nd floor, as well as the main entrance on the gound floor (after 24:00, Zollstrasse 121). At each entry location you will find an e-reader (small black box), where you can simply enter the 4-digit code and confirm it with ✔️.

 

 

Can I arrive after 19:00?

Check-in is also possible after 19:00. Your 4-digit access code grants access to the room (see the section above”How does the access to my room work”). The reception will then no longer be available for information or assistance. Follow the descriptions under “How do I access to my room?

Can an extra bed for children be placed in all rooms?

No extra beds can be placed in our standard single and double rooms.Only the family room with 2 bunk beds can accommodate a maximum of 4 people.

Can a baby crib be placed in the room?

For children up to 2 years of age, we will provide a baby bed in the parents’ room free of charge. Please add the baby crib as an additional service when booking online.

How do I get to my room if the main entrance is closed?

On the left side of the main entrance door is the e-reader. Enter the access code, which is the same as for the room. Follow the signs to the left into the staircase and go to the 2nd floor. At the door on the right, enter the same code again to enter the guesthouse, which leads to the rooms.

Is there an elevator?

Yes, the elevator is located at bottom of the staircase of Zollstrasse 121. Take the elevator up to the 2nd floor for direct access to Guesthouse Zollhaus. When you step out of the elevator towards the staircase, turn right and you will be in front of the main entrance door of the Guesthouse. The e-reader to enter your access code is located to the right of the entrance door. The reception is on the 1st floor. Follow the signs through the glass door and turn left along the corridor.

When is someone from the staff onsite?

The reception is open Monday to Friday from 15:00 to 19:00. We are also available by phone in the morning from 08:00 – 11:00 and throughout the day via email at: info@guesthouse-zollhaus.ch.

When and how is the check-out on the day of departure?

Check-out is until 11:00 am on the day of departure. For late, unannounced check-outs a flat rate of 60 CHF will be charged.

Can I check out later (late check-out)?

Please contact us in advance for a late check-out. If possible we will gladly grant this. For late, unannounced check-outs a flat rate of 60 CHF will be charged.

Will my room be cleaned daily?

We offer a sustainable overnight stay. This means rooms will not be cleaned daily on longer stays.

 

How often are the bed linen and towels changed?

Out of respect for the environment, bed linen is changed every five days and terry linen every three days. Towels can be changed earlier on request – please contact us by e-mail info@guesthouse-zollhaus.ch.

What is the City Tax on my stay bill?

The City Tax is a solidarity contribution to regional tourism and ensures a clean, attractive city of Zurich. 2.50 CHF* per person, per night is charged in addition to the room rate.

* from 2024 on, the  City Tax will be 3.50 CHF per person.

How do I pay my bill?

When making a reservation, you will provide us with your credit card details as a guarantee. The total amount will be charged on the credit card on the day of arrival. If this is not possible for you, please contact us by e-mail at info@guesthouse-zollhaus.ch.

Where can I have breakfast?

You can book your breakfast directly at the restaurant Osso located on ground floor.

Alternatively, the Gleis Café on the second floor offers a varied menu. On the street level you will also find the Vicafé with an extensive coffee menu.

Are dogs allowed in the room?

Small dogs are generally allowed, if they are housebroken and do not bark. Loud dogs are not acceptable for our residents and the other guests in the guesthouse. For dogs we charge 10 CHF per night. We are happy to provide a water bowl and a dog blanket. Please note in the remarks of your booking that you are coming with a dog.

Can I smoke in the room?

Smoking is only allowed outside, on the first floor. We will take the liberty of charging 150 CHF, if this rule is violated.

Can I deposit my luggage?

Unfortunately, there is currently no possibility to deposit luggage directly in the Zollhaus. We can organize the luggage storage for people with special requests. Please contact us! There are lockers on the first floor of Zurich main railway station as well as a personal luggage service on the side of the National Museum.

Can I borrow an adapter?

Each room is equipped with a multiple plug/ USB with Euro adapter.

Is there a hairdryer in the room?

Each room with private bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer. In the shared bathroom you will also find a hairdryer. We will be happy to give you your own hairdryer at the reception during opening hours or put it in your room if you contact us in advance.

Are there barrier-free rooms?

We have one complete barrier-free room with a private bathroom at your disposal. Access to the room is via elevator, which is also suitable for larger wheelchairs.
